PR and rating agency Avance Media, in partnership with 1000 African Voices and VIPI State (Avenva), announced the finalists for the 3rd edition of the Most Influential Young South Africans list on Tuesday. However, some of those on the list were rejected by the same people they apparently influenced in 2018 and they took to social media to voice their disappointment.
MD of the agency Prince Akpah said in a statement that the young people on the list had made “remarkable contributions” in their fields and had an impact on young people in South Africa and other countries. The ranking was previously won by Trevor Noah in 2016 and Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi 2017. Voting has started on the agency’s website to determine the winner in each category and the overall winner, but South Africans have questioned some nominees on the list.
2018’s nominees include Khanyi Mbau, Pabi Moloi, Lasizwe, Khanya Mkangisa, AKA, and Cassper Nyovest, to name a few.
