EFF clarifies anthem stance: Remove Die Stem, Afrikaans not the issue

- EFF national spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, clarified the party’s position on the proposed update to the national anthem- Via social media, Ndlozi explained that the EFF has called for the removal of Die Stem from the anthem, but not due to it being sung in Afrikaans- The party’s tough stance against Afrikaans relates specifically to academic institutions Twitter user, @AdvNgcukaitobi, posed a controversial question to the EFF via twitter today and it prompted a reaction from the party.

The account, which is a parody of prominent advocate, Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, asked why the EFF is only advocating for the removal of the 'Afrikaans version' of the anthem. According to the tweet, the English section should be just as damning as it was a colonial language that perpetuated violence as well.
