Could a coalition between Jacob Zuma and the Economic Freedom Fighters be on the cards? Julius Malema announced that he has buried the hatchet as far as the ex-president was concerned over the weekend. In a surprising turn of events, Julius Malema has declared that he has forgiven former president Jacob Zuma and would like a fresh start.

According to Sowetan Live, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters had this sudden change of heart while addressing congregants, at the Apostolic Faith Mission River of Life in Tshwane, this Sunday. While it is naturally hard to guess the politician's motives from the comments, a coalition between Jacob Zuma and the EFF would be a fatal blow to the ANC.Addressing a crowd outside the church, Malema declared that the service on forgiveness had inspired him to bury the hatchet with Zuma:We came here for wisdom and since the priest was telling us about forgiveness as politicians, we must now forgive Zuma.

We forgive him for the sake of the priest because we cannot go against the word of the priest. The two men have had their fair share of conflict in the past, climaxing in Malema's expulsion from the ANC. Although the reasons for his removal had never been clarified, Malema had been a loyal supporter of the ex-president during his tenure.

In fact, Malema was the leader of the 'we will kill for Zuma' movement, which enjoyed enormous support from numerous provinces.READ ALSO: ANC MP announces HIV status after ex-boyfriend threatens to expose her Once Malema was exiled from the ANC, he formed the EFF and turned on Zuma, leading the charge calling for the president's resignation.
