After sharing journalist Karima Brown's telephone number on social media, Julius Malema received negative attention from an America NGO that defends journalists.
The NGO fears for Brown's safety. Julius Malema shared a tweet that revealed journalist Karima Brown's telephone number as well as labelled her an ANC mole.
Shortly after this, Brown claimed she received numerous threats of rape and attack on her person.Angela Quintal, The Committee to Protect Journalists' Africa programme coordinator, stated that the threats that were started because of "the malicious publication of her contact information" are concerning.
The electoral commission must send the Economic Freedom Fighters and all political parties a strong message that using social media to threaten and intimidate journalists will not be tolerated and is a breach of the Electoral Code that could impact the credibility of the vote.PAY ATTENTION: Do you want to know what's trending on Briefly.co.za?
