- The EFF leader has rejected Msimanga's explanation for stepping down- Malema said that it revealed Msimanga's inability to govern and campaign at the same time- He added that the situation was proof that the DA applied different rules to white people and black peopleJulius Malema has rejected Solly Msimanga's reasons for stepping down as Tshwane mayor, calling the situation "bizarre".
Msimanga resigned last week so that he could focus all of his attention on his campaign for the Gauteng premiership. The ANC also expressed doubt about Msimanga's resignation, claiming that the DA was pushing him out.
Msimanga, however, has refuted these claims. He says that he freely chose to step down and was not forced to do.
He added that he felt it would be unfair to the people of Tshwane to have a mayor who could not devote all of his time to governing. Malema refused to accept Msimanga's reasoning, however.
He claimed that Msimanga's resignation reveled that the DA applied different rules to white people and black people.
