LETTER: Malema should have shared Masuku's fate

Columnist Steven Friedman declared his bias by admitting that he testified in favour of Bongani Masuku, who said “supporters of a state for Jews should be subjected to perpetual suffering, even if we do something which may necessarily be regarded as harmful”, but that doesn’t excuse his flawed rationale (“Human Rights Rulings Show a Bias Towards Popular Persona”, April 10).

According to him, because EFF leader Julius Malema’s comment regarding the slaughtering of whites was found not to be hate speech by the Human Rights Commission (HRC), neither should Masuku’s, when a more conventional view would probably be the other way around: that what applied to Masuku should.
