Former government spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi says he cannot pardon the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Manyi was in conversation with Thabiso Kotane on POWER Perspective on Tuesday, talking about why he left the African National Congress (ANC) to join a new political home, the African Transformation Movement (ATM). He says the ruling party has failed to transform South Africa’s economy.
When asked why he did not join other well-established parties such as the Inkatha Freedom Party or EFF, Manyi had this to say: “I could never forgive the EFF for what they have done in Gauteng. Why did they give the votes to the DA for instance? If you have people like that, [there is] no consistency, depends which way the wind is blowing.
” The former Afro Worldview boss says what attracted him to ATM was that it is run by people who aren’t politicians and who “genuinely” want to bring change to people. Another draw card for him was the way the party wants South Africans to reclaim their African-ness, he points out.
“What I like about ATM is that they are not politicians, they are decent people, they are professionals.
