Poll reveals ANC's support on the decline, smaller parties rising

With the May elections just weeks away, South Africans are contemplating who to support when they head out to voting booths across the nation.

A recent poll has found that the ANC is losing support, while other smaller parties appear to be rising in popularity. The Institute of Race Relations has released a poll detailing how support for the ANC appears to be hemorrhaging voters ahead of next month's elections.

According to ,, Dawie Scholtz has attributed the slump to numerous reasons, commenting that: "If you look at a province like Gauteng, in 2011 the ANC won about 87 percent of the black vote, in 2014 it was down to 78 percent, in 2016 it was down to 69 percent and that's why they lost Tshwane and Gauteng because black voters moved away.
