Public Protector and President Ramaphosa to meet over BOSASA payment

- The President and Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane are due to meet today to discuss the R500 000 payment from BOSASA-This follows accusations that he had deliberately lied in Parliament about the payment- According to Khusela Diko, Ramaphosa had requested the meeting in order to clarify the issue and lay any complaints to restPresident Cyril Ramaphosa is set to meet with Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Public Protector, today in Pretoria to clarify the confusion surrounding a payment he received from the controversial BOSASA.

According to News24, Khusela Diko (spokesperson for the Presidency) has confirmed that Ramaphosa wanted to address complaints that he had deliberately been deceptive about the payment. This follows Mkhwebane confirming last week that she would investigate whether or not the President had been dishonest about a campaign donation he had received from African Global Operations (formerly BOSASA).

The Public Protector's decision came in response to opposition leaders, Mmusi Maimane and Julius Malema, stating on numerous occasions that the President had lied to Parliament.
