Ramaphosa elected SA President

African National Congress, ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has been duly elected President of the Republic of South Africa for the 6th parliament.

This is after the ANC’s chief whip Pemmy Majodina nominated Ramaphosa and was seconded by member Madala Ntombela during a process presided over by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. He will be sworn in on Saturday after which he will name his deputy and cabinet at the weekend.

Meanwhile, opposition Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane has congratulated Ramaphosa on his election with a plea to end corruption and pledged his support in tackling the vice.
