- Former finance minister, Trevor Manuel, is taking legal action against the EFF- This is regarding the party's claim that he unfairly influenced the appointment of the new Sars boss- Manuel has called the allegations racist and libelous Trevor Manuel is suing the EFF as well as its spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, over the party's allegation that Manuel interfered in the appointment of Edward Kieswetter as the new head of Sars.
Ndlozi had said that the appointment protest was not transparent and that Manuel, a former finance minister, had unfairly favoured Kieswetter.In response to the allegations, Manuel had said that he would not be intimidated by "schoolyard bullies".

When the EFF initially made the allegations - which appear to be based on the fact that Manuel and Kieswetter are both coloured - Manuel dismissed them. He described the accusations as libelous and racist.
Additionally, Manuel demanded that the party retract their comments, or else he would take legal action against them, Briefly.co.za has gathered.
